Case study 1 | Synthesis and Characterization of Process Impurities
Synthesis and characterization of cabergoline Impurities (B and C)Supported to develop a synthesis procedure for Impurity-B and C of cabergoline. Synthesis procedure developed substituting ethyl isocyanate with a less toxic and commercially available reagent
Challenge:
Impurity-B and Impurity-C are possible process related impurities. These impurities were prepared by the R&D using ethyl isocyanate as a reagent. Ethyl isocyanate is toxic and not commercially available.
Solution:
Supported to develop a synthesis procedure substituting ethyl isocyanate with a less toxic and commercially available reagent.
These impurities prepared with purity above 98.0% and characterized based on IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and Mass spectral data.
Prepared structural confirmation report for DMF filing.
